Cheyenne Man Accused of Stealing Thousands From His Grandmother
A 42-year-old Cheyenne man is back in jail after allegedly violating his probation and swindling his grandmother out of thousands of dollars.
The Arrest
According to a booking sheet, police arrested Tyler Eugene Neighbors on West Lincolnway at Snyder Avenue at 6:19 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 10, on two felony warrants and for interference (after he allegedly gave them a false first name and date of birth).
Police say Neighbors had a warrant out of Laramie County District Court for probation violation with an original charge of possession of methamphetamine.
Judge Nathaniel S. Hibben reportedly signed the warrant on Sept. 2, 2025.
Police say Neighbors also had a warrant out of Laramie County Circuit Court for felony forgery - utters, a crime punishable by up to 10 years in prison, up to a $10,000 fine, or both.
Judge Antoinette Williams reportedly signed the warrant on Nov. 3, 2025.
It's alleged that on or about the period of Sept. 21, 2025, to Oct. 25, 2025, Neighbors unlawfully and with intent to defraud his grandmother, uttered checks knowing them to be forged.
Neighbors was taken to the Laramie County Detention Center, where he was booked on his warrants, and subsequently charged with interference with a peace officer - no injury, a misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in jail, up to a $1,000 fine, or both.
Initial Court Appearance
On Monday, Jan. 12, Neighbors was seen in Circuit Court in front of Judge TJ Forwood on the forgery and interference cases.
Forwood appointed Neighbors a public defender then asked the state for recommendation on bond.
"As I understand, based on a quick review of the affidavit, is that it appears to involve $2,600 cash. So, for the felony matter, the state would request that same amount," the state said. "As to the IPO, the state would ask for $1,000 on that to run consecutively."
"There is a little bit of history related to drugs and prior probation violations ... also failures to appear," the state added. "Accordingly, I would stand by that. So, $3,600 all in."
Total Bond Set at $3,500 Cash
"I do believe that is a fair request," said Forwood. "To make this a little bit simpler, I'm going to do $2,500 cash on that felony and $1,000 cash on the misdemeanor."

Neighbors' next court proceeding will be a preliminary hearing on Wednesday, Jan. 21, at 2:15 p.m.
Please remember that all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
