Cheyenne Police Taking Applications
The Cheyenne Police Department is looking for a few good men and women to fight crime, enforce traffic laws and maintain order.
Spokesman Officer Dan Long says the agency is taking applications through April 27 for people interested in joining the force.
He says among the most important qualifications to becoming s Cheyenne police officer is the ability to pass a background check. Other important factors are the ability to meet the physical requirements of the job and the ability to pass an oral test given by a testing board.
Long says it typically takes about a year for an applicant to actually being working as a police officer, including the time needed to take courses at the state Law Enforcement Academy in Douglas.
Long says application forms are available at the department website. They must be turned in no later than April 27 at the City Municipal Building on O'Neill.
