The Cheyenne Police Department will be paying extra attention for traffic violations on one of the city's busier venues through the end of the month.

That's according to a post on the Cheyenne Police Department Facebook page.

According to the post, the effort will consist of ''increasing traffic enforcement along Central Avenue corridors between 8th Avenue and Pershing Boulevard. This roadway has been designated as a Critical Traffic Control Area (CTCA) by the City.''

The special effort will run through the rest of June.

What is the CTCA Program?

The CTCA program lets city residents ask for special attention to areas they say are experiencing a .lot of traffic issues. If the data bears that out, steps will be taken to address the problem.

Specific to the Central Avenue corridors, steps being taken include increased police patrols, stiffer fines and more signage.

The Cheyenne Police Department post goes on to say

What to expect over the next two weeks:
• The city will continue to collect data while these measures are in place.
• Following the two-week period, data will be re-evaluated to decide whether to remove, extend, or make any of these actions permanent.
