Cheyenne Mom Bound Over for Trial in Baby’s Death
A Cheyenne woman charged with first-degree murder and aggravated child abuse in the death of her baby boy has waived her right to a preliminary hearing.
Twenty-five-year-old Sabrina A. Sawicki is accused of shaking her 16-month-old son to death.
Court records say the baby was taken to Cheyenne Regional Medical Center on April 24 and then flown to Children's Hospital Colorado where he died on April 27.
An autopsy determined the boy died from "abusive head trauma" consistent with "shaken baby syndrome."
Sawicki could face life in prison if convicted. Her arraignment date has yet to be scheduled.
