Cheyenne Mom Charged with Killing Her Baby Out on $50K Bond
A 25-year-old Cheyenne woman charged with first-degree murder and aggravated child abuse in the death of her 16-month-old son has bonded out of jail.
Sabrina A. Sawicki was being held on a $50,000 cash or surety bond, but her father posted her bond yesterday (Wednesday).
Court records say the baby was taken to Cheyenne Regional Medical Center on April 24 and then flown to Children's Hospital Colorado where he was taken off life support on April 27.
An autopsy determined the boy died from "abusive head trauma" consistent with "shaken baby syndrome."
The affidavit says "Sawicki admitted to shaking K.T. in an aggressive forward and back motion" during a May 1 interview.
Sawicki's preliminary hearing is scheduled for August 17 at 9 a.m. She faces life in prison if convicted.
