Cheyenne Meteorologist Predicts Warm Fall, Cold Snowy Winter

Cheyenne based meteorologist Don Day Jr. says we can expect a fairly warm fall followed by a cold winter with a fair amount of snow expected.

Day is the founder and President of Dayweather Inc. in Cheyenne.

But Day says the main message he wants to get across is that this winter will not be a replay of the winter of 2023-2024, with a wide range of different factors in play this year as opposed to last winter.

He also adds that forecasting this far in advance is always dicey, and no one can be 100 percent sure how the winter weather will play out. In fact, he says forecasters use three different models and there is no consensus about which model is most reliable.

But he says his best estimate based on the available information is that the September through November time perod should be warm with fair anount of precipitation.

But for December through February people east of the continental divide can expect cold winter weather with a fair amount of snow in the forecast.
