Cheyenne Man Facing Strangulation, Property Destruction Charges
An 18-year-old Cheyenne man is facing felony charges after allegedly strangling a household member and causing more than $1,000 worth of property damage.
According to a booking sheet, police arrested Marcus Tyler Clark at a home in the 1400 block of West Jefferson Road at 5:19 a.m. on Monday, July 14, for felony property destruction, interference with a peace officer - no injury, and underage consumption/alcohol.
Clark was subsequently charged with felony property destruction, a crime punishable by up to 10 years in prison, up to a $10,000 fine, or both, and misdemeanor property destruction.
He was also charged by information alleging on or about Friday, July 11, strangulation of a household member - applying pressure on the throat or neck, a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison, and domestic battery - first offense, a misdemeanor.
Initial Court Appearance
On Wednesday, July 16, Clark was seen in Laramie County Circuit Court in front of Judge Antoinette Williams on the charges.
"Mr. Clark has a history of similar charges," the state told the court, referring to a June 3 arrest at a home in the 1900 block of Pershing Pointe Drive, in which police arrested him on a warrant for misdemeanor property destruction and domestic battery.
"The severity of these charges is really concerning to the state for the safety of both victims in the property destruction as well as the strangulation and domestic battery and the state would recommend a $3,000 cash bond," the state added.
Total Bond Set at $4K Cash
"For the strangulation case the court will set your bond at $3,000 cash and the property destruction case, that'll be $1,000 cash," Williams told Clark.
Clark's next court appearance will be a preliminary hearing on Friday, July 25, at 9:45 a.m.
Please remember that all suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
