Cheyenne Man Pleads Guilty To Involuntary Manslaughter
The Cheyenne man accused of shooting and killing his friend pleaded guilty Friday in Laramie County District Court to one count of involuntary manslaughter.
Austin Daniel, 18, could face up to 20 years for the manslaughter charge. In exchange for the Daniel guilty plea, the prosecution agreed to not argue for a tougher sentence than what the defense would ask.
Daniel admitted to the court that he shot his friend,19-year-old Mark Dreiman, Sept. 17 in a garage of a family home at 1008 Drew Court.
Daniel told Laramie County District Court Judge Thomas Campbell that he and his friend were in the garage, and he had originally removed the magazine from the gun they had. The teens left the garage for about 30 minutes, but when they returned, Daniel grabbed the gun. There was a round remaining in the gun's chamber, which eventually fired and killed Dreiman.
Daniel originally entered a plea of not guilty in October.
