The Cheyenne Office of the National Weather Service is warning that the same winter storm which could dump as much as two feet of snow in some mountain areas over the next days could also drop as much as eight inches of the white stuff on Cheyenne.

The service posted this statement on its website Thursday morning:

"Here is the latest on the expected Winter Storm system that will affect the region especially late Friday through Saturday. Heavy snow is becoming more likely, especially over the higher mountains where over 2 feet may fall. Heavy snow may also spread into lower elevations later Friday evening through Saturday evening especially along the Interstate 80 corridor from southeast Wyoming into the Nebraska Panhandle where 4 to 8 inches may fall. Travel may become very difficult."
