Alleged Knife Threat Prompts SWAT Team Response in Cheyenne
A 47-year-old Cheyenne man is behind bars after reportedly holding a knife to a person's throat then barricading himself inside his home.
Knife Threat
According to Laramie County Sheriff's spokesman Brandon Warner, it all started around 3 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 27, after deputies were approached by someone claiming they had a knife put to their throat during an altercation with Robert Rue Martin Crenshaw.

"This person stated they were parked in front of Crenshaw’s residence in the 200 block of Murray Road when an altercation took place," Warner said in a news release.
"During the altercation Crenshaw pulled a knife and placed it against the reporting person’s throat," Warner added. "The disagreement was reported to be about an incident that had taken place a week prior regarding an E-bike and a mutual friend."
Warner says deputies made repeated attempts to contact Crenshaw, but he refused to come out of his home or to communicate with them.
SWAT Team Called Out for Barricaded Suspect
"Cheyenne Police Department/Laramie County Sheriff’s Office Joint Swat Team and Crisis Negotiators were called to the scene," said Warner. "When the Swat team arrived Crenshaw voluntarily exited his home and was taken into custody without further incident."
Crenshaw was booked into the Laramie County Detention Center for aggravated assault and battery - threatens to use a drawn deadly weapon, a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
As of 11:10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 28, Crenshaw had yet to be formally charged.
Please remember that all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
UPDATE:
On Thursday, Oct. 31, Crenshaw was seen in Laramie County Circuit Court in front of Judge Sean C. Chambers on a single count of aggravated assault and battery - threatens to use a drawn deadly weapon.
Chambers appointed Crenshaw a public defender, set his preliminary hearing for Friday, Nov. 7, at 9:45 a.m., and set his bond at $7,500 cash.
