A habitual Cheyenne criminal is facing two life sentences after allegedly strangling a household member and threatening them with a drawn deadly weapon.

According to a booking sheet, police arrested 38-year-old Kasey Adam Worley at a redacted location in Cheyenne at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 7, two days after the alleged crimes are said to have occurred.

Police say Worley was uncooperative and had to be tased.

Worley was booked into the Laramie County Detention Center and on Monday, Aug. 11, was seen in Laramie County Circuit Court in front of Judge TJ Forwood on two felonies, including strangulation a household member - applying pressure on the throat or neck and aggravated assault and battery - threatens to use a drawn deadly weapon, as well as three misdemeanors, including domestic battery - second offense, violation of protection order, and interference with a peace officer - no injury.

Habitual Criminal Enhancement

Because of Worley's previous convictions for felony theft on Oct. 19, 2018, and burglary and forgery on Sept. 27, 2019, the felony charges carry an enhanced penalty of life in prison.

Forwood appointed Worley a public defender and asked the state for recommendation on bond.

"Mr. Worley recently received an imposed sentence for a probation violation for a similar group of domestic battery offenses," the state said. "On Aug. 1, he was released three days early because he told this court he was going to get treatment and instead ... he committed these new offenses with the same victim."

The state also referenced Worley's history of batteries dating back to 2006, domestic batteries dating back to 2007, probation violations, and failure to appears dating back to 2018.

"For those reasons the state believes that a cash bond is appropriate and would request $75,000 cash," the state said.

Bond Set at $100K Cash

Forwood set Worley's bond at $100,000 cash.

His next court date will be a preliminary hearing on Thursday, Aug. 21, at 3:30 p.m.

Please remember that all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
