The first of three Cheyenne Frontier Days 2013 Pancake Breakfasts went smoothly on Monday, according to event organizers.

The free breakfasts, presented by the Cheyenne Kiwanis Club, are a CFD tradition dating back many years. Tim Sheppard of the Kiwanis said Monday that despite brisk crowds he had ''more than enough" volunteers on hand to keep things moving,, adding ''things couldn't be going any better".

Sheppard says planning for the breakfast starts as soon as the previous Frontier Days wraps up. Besides Monday's breakfast, there will be Wednesday and Friday morning pancake breakfasts, also held at the Cheyenne Depot Plaza between 7-9am.

Breakfast organizers say through the course of the week they will serve over 100,000 flapjacks made from 5000 pounds of pancake mix, as well as 5000 pounds of ham, 9,200 cartons of milk and 520 gallons of coffee.
