Cheyenne and Laramie ae both facing wind chills colder than -20 degrees over the next few days, according to the Cheyenne Office of the National Weather Service.

The agency posted the following on its website:

As mentioned, the cold air will arrive Friday, however, temperatures will progressively get colder over the weekend and into the beginning of next week. A reinforcing shot of cold air arrives Sunday, likely leading to the coldest temperatures Monday and Monday night. High temperatures on Monday will be in the single digits with overnight lows expected to be below -10F. Dangerous wind chills are also likely, especially Sunday night and Monday night. If you must be outdoors this weekend or Monday, be sure to dress in layers to prevent hypothermia and frostbite! Also take precautions for outdoor pets and young livestock! Temperatures will gradually warm up next week.

Meanwhile, a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for much of Southeast Wyoming through early Saturday:

Meet the Four-Legged Heroes of the Cheyenne Police Department

They may not be able to leap tall buildings in a single bound, but make no bones about it, police dogs play a vital role in the fight against crime.

In many situations, they're the first ones to put their lives on the line to protect their human partners, proving that not all heroes wear capes, some wear fur coats.
