Casper Police Arrest Crest Hill Elementary School Teacher

UPDATE (7:04 p.m.):

The employee arrested at Crest Hill Elementary School was teaching before he was taken into custody, a person familiar with the matter told K2 Radio News on Monday.

Kellan Holbrook is listed as a second-grade teacher at the school on the Natrona County School District's staff directory. He was arrested on multiple felony warrants, according to the source.

Officers reportedly waited until Holbrook left his classroom before taking him into custody. Holbrook was escorted out through a side door, the source said Monday evening, as officers made every effort to arrest him out of students' view.

More details are expected to be made available Tuesday.

Casper police arrested a staff member of Crest Hill Elementary School, 4445 S. Poplar St., on Monday, according to a spokeswoman of the Natrona County School District.

This is the statement the district sent to parents of students of the school late Monday afternoon:

We want to inform you that today, Nov. 26th, a staff member was arrested at Crest Hill Elementary. Staff members redirected the attention of students in classrooms near where the arrest took place, so they would not be witness to the event. However, it may be possible your student saw law enforcement in the building. At this time, we do not have a reason to believe there is a safety concern to students or staff at Crest Hill in relation to this arrest. NCSD officials will complete an inquiry into the arrest per District policy.

We will provide information, as relevant to the school environment, as it is available. If you have any questions please contact Principal (Nicole) Rapp.

District spokeswoman Tanya Southerland said she did not know the name of the person arrested, their position at the school, the specific charge or charges, nor the sex or age of the staff member.

Southerland did not know if other school district employees may be under investigation, she said.

Southerland expects the police report will be released Tuesday morning.

The school district also will begin its own investigation into the incident, she said.
