Republican candidate for Laramie County Sheriff Boyd Wrede says the sheriff's office is currently understaffed and not respected by many people.

Wrede also says rural law enforcement in the county is especially a problem.

Wrede appeared on the "Weekend In Wyoming" on Saturday, June 4 to discuss his campaign. Capt. Don Hollingshead of the Laramie County Sheriff's Office appeared on the same program.

Tomorrow we will post his interview.

Former Cheyenne Police Chief Brian Kozak also was on the show recently, and independent candidate Jeff Barnes is slated for a June 18th appearance.

We have reached out to Democratic candidate Jess Fresquez via email about an appearance, but an interview with him has not yet been scheduled.

In our interview with Boyd Wrede, he emphasized what he says is a serious understaffing of the sheriff's office, saying it especially affects residents of rural Laramie County. We also discussed what can be done to make sure Laramie County schools are safe, what to do about the meth and fentanyl problems we are seeing, and several other topics.
