SafeHaven of Tarrant County is a domestic abuse shelter in Fort Worth, Texas. Recently they posted a letter to Santa from one of their residents.

His name is Blake. He is a 7-year-old boy staying at one of their shelters. His mom found this letter to Santa in his backpack a few weeks ago. With her and Blake's permission, the shelter shared the letter on social media to bring attention to the struggle that many families face when dealing with domestic abuse.

The letter reads:

"Dear Santa, We had to leave our house. Dad was mad. We had to do all the chores. Dad got everything he wanted. Mom said it was time to leave and she would take us to a safer place where we don’t have to be scared.
I’m still nervous. I don’t want to talk to the other kids. Are you going to come this Christmas? We don’t have any of our stuff here. Can you bring some chapter books, a dictionary, and a compass and a watch? I also want a very, very, very good dad. Can you do that, too?
Love, Blake"

The shelter assures the public that Blake and his mother are safe. "For those concerned, we can assure you that Blake and his mom's safety has not been compromised by sharing his letter," they said on Facebook.
