
Cheyenne Cemetery To Hold Christmas Box Vigil For Lost Loved Ones
Lakeview Cemetery in Cheyenne will host the 32nd Annual Christmas Box Angel Candlelight Vigil on Saturday December 6, according to a new release from the city.
According to the release, the event will start at 7 p.m. on Saturday with a gathering at the Lakeview Cemetery office. Participant are being asked to bring a candle and may also bring a white flower if they choose to do so.
A Ceremony At The Angel Of Hope Statue Will Be The Main Event
From the cemetery office they will go on to Christmas Box Angel of Hope (see above photo) for the ceremony, After the ceremony, participants will enjoy warm beverages and have time to connect with one another.
According to the release The ceremony is inspired by Richard Paul Evans’ book, “The Christmas Box,” which tells the story of a widow who mourns the loss of her child at the base of an angel monument and discovers the first gift of Christmas. In response to the growing demand for a dedicated space to grieve and heal, the first Angel of Hope statue was unveiled in Salt Lake City, Utah, on Dec. 6, 1994 - a significant date corresponding with the child's death in Evans' book.''
Today, there are over 120 Christmas Box Angel of Hope statues in the United States, Canada and Japan.
