Blizzard, Whiteout Conditions,Forecast For SE Wyoming
The Cheyenne Office of the National Weather Service has updated it's forecast for a strong winter storm which is expected to hit southeast Wyoming Wednesday and Thursday.
The service issued the following statement on Wednesday morning
- Forecast remains on track with precipitation starting to spread north into Wyoming this morning. Precipitation is expected to transition to all snow by mid- to late-morning in WY. The transition to snow will occur late-morning to early afternoon for the central & southern NE Panhandle.
- Heavy Snow, blowing snow, and strong north winds of 25 to 35 mph with gusts to 55 mph will create whiteout conditions in the blizzard warned areas 12pm today through Thursday morning. Snow will taper off late morning Thursday but winds could still create ground blizzard conditions into the afternoon.
- Travel in southeast Wyoming and Nebraska Panhandle will be significantly affected and ALL unnecessary travel should be cancelled, especially late morning Wednesday through early Thursday morning.
