Alleged Cheyenne Gun Store Burglars in Federal Custody
Three 18-year-old Cheyenne men are in federal custody after allegedly stealing multiple firearms from a Cheyenne gun store last month.
Austin Lawrence, Donovan Studer and Ian Dangler made their initial appearance before U.S. Magistrate Judge Kelly H. Rankin on Tuesday.
According to court documents, police were called to a burglary at Dragoon Armory at 607 E. Lincolnway on the morning of May 30.
It was determined that the business was forcefully entered through a rear door, which leads to a storage room on the main floor and a stairway to the second floor apartments.
According to the responsible party for the building, only one of the apartments was occupied the previous evening.
Police obtained a search warrant and found eleven pistols and three rifles in the apartment which matched those stolen in the burglary.
The three men were arrested and charged with stealing a firearm from a licensed dealer and aiding and abetting. Each is facing up to ten years in federal prison if convicted.
The men's detention and preliminary hearings are scheduled for Thursday.
