Alcohol to Blame for Fatal Crash Near I-180 Viaduct in Cheyenne
Police say impaired driving caused a fatal single-vehicle crash involving a 49-year-old Cheyenne woman earlier this year.
Officer Kevin Malatesta says Maria Aguilar-Lopez was "heavily intoxicated" when she crashed her SUV into a large tree near the intersection of E. 9th Street and I-180 on the morning of June 6.
"She had a blood alcohol concentration of .206," said Malatesta. "For most people, that would result in them just passing out, probably being hospitalized even."
Aguilar-Lopez sustained serious injuries in the crash and could not be revived.
