Laramie County Clerk Debra Lee says about 8700 voters--or 18 percent of the people eligible to vote in the 2022 General Election in Laramie County--had voted either early or absentee through Friday.

Lee says that is about 1,000 more than the number who voted early or absentee during the same time in the August 16 Primary Election runup. In a Friday news release, Lee also said that about 65 percent of the almost 4800 absentee ballots sent out to voters had been returned.

Those ballots will be secured up until being counted on election day, according to Lee. Voters have until 7 p.m. on election day, November 8, to return their absentee ballots if they have not already done so.

Absentee voters also need to remember to sing the oath on the ballot envelope before returning absentee ballots

The last day to vote early in the Atrium of the Laramie County Governmental Building is Monday, November 7. Voters are being reminded that they will need to bring a Wyoming Driver's License or another accepted form of identification.

For a comparison to early and absentee voting in other recent elections, we asked Lee for those numbers. She gave us the following:

Total for same period in 2020 General Election:

20,925 voted early/absentee, of which 9863 voted early.

However, that was a presidential election held during the pandemic so we had a record number of absentee mail ballots cast.

Total for same period in 2018 General Election:

7454 voted early/absentee, of which 5077 voted early.
