143 Days and Counting: Cheyenne Seeing Longest Streak of 40+ Degree Days on Record

Cheyenne is amid its longest streak of 40-plus degree days on record.

According to the National Weather Service in Cheyenne, the temperature at the official observing station at the airport hasn't dropped below 40 degrees since May 7, 2023.

"As of Monday, this is now a record-long streak for days without dropping into the 30s at 143 days and counting," the NWS posted on its Facebook page and website Wednesday.

The NWS says the streak, which is expected to last through at least the weekend, is partially due to the rainfall and moisture this year, which has led to warmer-than-average overnight lows.

Some neighborhoods in Cheyenne have seen the temperature drop below 40F in the last few days, but this has yet to occur at the airport.
