SHERIDAN, Wyo. (AP) — One person has been found dead after a structure fire in northern Wyoming.

The fire occurred Wednesday night in a hotel on Main Street in Sheridan. The name of the victim was not immediately released.

Firefighter Andy Lindberg says the victim was an occupant of the hotel.

Lindberg said firefighters were called about 8:30 p.m. and fire was visible when they arrived on the scene.

He says the fire apparently started in a room on the second floor of the building.

Lindberg said fire damage was confined to one room but there was a lot of smoke damage on the building's second floor in addition to some water damage.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
