The select committee on Legislative Facilities okay'd a plan to move forward with researching a proposal from Wyoming Public Television (PBS) to provide future gavel to gavel video coverage of Wyoming legislative sessions. Committee member, Cheyenne Representative Jim Byrd (HD 44), says since the plan is to renovate the state capitol building over the next few years, it would also be financially prudent to wire the building for live video streaming at the same time.

The proposed new service tentatively called "WY-SPAN", would be streamed live over the Wyoming legislative website as well as the Wyoming PBS website. It would also be broadcast over Wyoming PBS on its secondary channel. All feeds would be available free of charge for use by Wyoming media as well. Many of Wyoming's neighbors including Montana, Nebraska, Utah, South Dakota and Idaho already provide this service.
