A fire destroyed a house at 3503 Mynear Street early Sunday morning. Laramie County Fire District #2 was called at approximately 4:35 AM to a reported structure fire.

A neighbor initially reported seeing smoke & fire in the attached garage. The home owner’s grandson, James Webber was the only one in the residence at the time and evacuated the house.

First arriving units reported the fire had fully engulfed the garage and was involving the house. A crawl space between the garage and home allowed the fire to extend into the home and burn its way up through the floors.  The fire was also being driven by high winds and pushing it towards a garage/workshop and other out-buildings. Firefighters took a defensive posture and protected the other buildings.

Due to the high winds and size of the fire as well as the threat to nearby buildings, additional fire units from Fire District #1 & 4, Warren Air Force Base and the Wyoming Air National Guard were called to assist. The Salvation Army Mobile Canteen was requested to provide food and drinks to the firefighters. The home was a total loss. Cause of the fire is still under investigation by the Laramie County Fire Investigation Unit. Fire units cleared the scene at approximately 11:30 AM.
