Wyoming Teen Dead Following Crash Involving Stolen Vehicle
A Wyoming teen is dead following a single-vehicle rollover crash involving a stolen vehicle, authorities say.
The crash happened around 5:09 a.m. on Wednesday, June 14, on Valley View Road near the Riverton Regional Airport.
According to a fatality crash summary from the Wyoming Highway Patrol, seven people were headed east in a stolen Mercedes when the driver went off the left-hand side of the road, overcorrected, and then went off the right-hand side of the road.
The Mercedes then tripped and rolled before coming to rest on its driver's side in a deep ravine.
"All occupants fled the crash scene and were contacted by law enforcement later," the summary reads. "Occupant positions within the vehicle are still under investigation."
According to the summary, six of the occupants escaped injury, but an unbuckled 17-year-old died from their injuries.
The summary says speed and other factors possibly contributed to the crash.
This is the second Wyoming juvenile to die on Wyoming's highways so far this year.
