A 71-year-old inmate at a prison in southeast Wyoming has died from long-term health issues.

The Wyoming Department of Corrections says Leland Duane Brown died at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff, Nebraska on Thursday, and an autopsy has been ordered.

Brown was sentenced on Sept. 23, 1986 by Laramie County District Court Judge Edward L. Grant.

He was serving a life sentence for first-degree murder and had been incarcerated at the Wyoming Medium Correctional Institution in Torrington.
