A Wyoming federal judge recently sentenced three men for counterfeiting, illegal immigrant, and child pornography crimes, according to a news release from the Wyoming U.S. Attorney's Office.

Chief U.S. District Court Judge Nancy Freudenthal sentenced Jose Modesto Adon Cano, 23, of South Ozone Park, N.Y., for possession of equipment to manufacture counterfeit credit cards. Cano was arrested in Laramie. He received one year, nine months of imprisonment, to be followed by three years of probation. Freudenthal also ordered him to pay a $400 fine and a $100 special assessment. Restitution will be determined at a later date.

Cano was among seven people who arrested on Interstate 80 in June after a Laramie restaurant employee suspected them of credit card fraud. They had been traveling across the United States allegedly committing counterfeiting and fraud crimes. The cases of the other defendants are pending.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Freudenthal sentenced Edgar Carrillo-Hernandez, 19, of Mexico, for illegal re-entry of a previously deported alien into the United States. Carrillo-Hernandez was arrested in Douglas. He received time served, plus 10 days, was ordered to pay a $100 special assessment, and is subject to deportation upon release from custody.

This case was investigated by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Freudenthal also sentenced Clarence Winfrey, 56, of Casper for possession of child pornography. He received six years, six months of imprisonment, to be followed by seven years of supervised release. She also ordered him to pay a $400 fine and a $100 special assessment.

This case was investigated by the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation Internet Crimes Against Children and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
