The ACLU of Wyoming is vowing to make sure "all immigrants know their rights" in response to recent tweets from President Trump.

The president this week tweeted that Immigrations and Customs Enforcement [ICE] will begin deporting "millions" of undocumented  [sometimes called illegal] immigrants next week.

The ACLU is not happy about that and says it will do everything possible to inform immigrants of their rights under the law.

“Our communities shouldn’t have to live in fear that parents won’t come home from work, or that kids won’t return from school, or that a knock at the door could rip a family apart,” said Heather Smith, ACLU of Wyoming executive director. “Regardless of your immigration status, you have guaranteed rights under the Constitution.”

The ACLU of Wyoming has posted materials for immigrants on its website  in both English and Spanish offering legal advice to immigrants, including advice for immigrants on how to handle the following situations:

  • If you are questioned about your immigration status
  • If you are stopped in your car
  • If you’re stopped by police, immigration agents or the FBI
  • If police or immigration agents come to your home
  • If you are contacted by the FBI
  • If you are arrested
  • If you are taken into immigration (ICE) custody
  • If you feel your rights have been violated
  • How to contact the Wyoming Rapid Response Hotline for immigration issues.
