WYDOT Closes Highways Statewide; Don’t Travel If Not Necessary
The Wyoming Department of Transportation has closed parts of Interstates 25 and 80, and a lot of other highways throughout the state because of hazardous winter weather conditions, according to the department's website as of Monday afternoon.
Highways not closed outright are closed to high-profile vehicles and regular vehicles because the wind will blow them over.
Other roads have black ice and falling rock advisories.
In other words, if you don't need to travel, don't.
So here's the rundown:
- I-25 is closed between Casper and Wheatland. From Wheatland to the Colorado state line, WYDOT has closed the highway to light, high-profile vehicles because of the extreme risk of being blown over. WYDOT also advises no unnecessary travel between Casper and Midwest.
- I-80 is closed between Rawlins and Laramie. I-80 from Laramie to the Nebraska state line is closed to light, high-profile vehicles because of the extreme risk of being blown over.
- U.S. Highway 18-30 between Douglas and Lusk is closed.
- U.S. Highway 20 between Glenrock and Lusk is closed.
- U.S. Highway 85 between Lusk and Mule Creek Junction is closed.
- U.S. Highway 191 between Rock Springs and the Utah state line is closed.
- U.S. Highway 287 from Laramie through Medicine Bow to Rawlins is closed.
- Wyoming Highway 28 between Farson and South Pass is closed.
- Wyoming Highway 59 between Douglas and Reno Junction is closed.
- Casper Mountain Road -- Wyoming Highway 251 -- is closed from Wyoming Boulevard south.
- Wyoming Highway 270 between Guernsey and Manville is closed.
WYDOT says some of the roads may be open later today.
Keep checking its website for updates.
Stay safe out there.
