Woman Gets Prison Sentence In Albany County Minor Sex Case
A 22-year-old woman has been handed a 7-10 year prison sentence in connection with a minor sex assault case.
But the sentence could be reduced if certain conditions aare met.
That's according to a post on the Albany County Sheriff's Office Facebook page.
The investigation got underway on Oct. 12, 2023, when the sheriff's office got a report of a sexual assualt of a minor. The report indicated that the perpetrator was a person in authority, 22 year-old Rielee Jones,. According to the post, Jones was arrested on first degree sexual assualt of a minor. She was booked into the Albany County Detention Center, and the investigation was assigned to detective Brendan Curtis.
The Wyoiming Division of Criminal Investigation's Internet Crimes Against Children Team was brought in to help with the investigation. The joint investigation between the ICAC and the sheriff's office led to multiple search warrants, turning up more evidence in the case.
Jones Reaches Plea Agreement With County Attorney
Jones worked out a plea agreement with Albany County Attorney's Office that was approved by, Judge Westby in District Court. On Monday, July 8 Jones was sentenced to 7-10 years. The post goes on to say: Additionally, Jones was informed that she would be required to register with the Wyoming Sex Offender Registry for the duration of her life and must complete the Wyoming Sex Offender Treatment Program when transferred to the Department of Corrections. Per District Court Judge Westby, Jones will be eligible for a sentence reduction after two years of time served and the successful completion of a GED.
