
Daron Wyatt Running For Albany County Sheriff
Daron Wyatt has announced his candidacy for Albany County Sheriff.
His website says about his campaign, "I firmly believe that leadership is the foundation of any organization, and leadership starts at the top. If elected, I vow to lead with character and integrity. I will hold myself and every member of the organization accountable. I will be approachable and will serve the people of Albany County with honor."
According to his website. Wyatt and a twin were born to an unmarried 16-year-old mother and were placed for adoption with parents who eventually served as missionaries in Africa.
Wyatt Has 37 Years In Law Enforcement For 7 Agencies
Of his professional background, the website says "I have spent 37 years working in law enforcement, and my wife served as a criminal court stenographer for 30 years. I have worked for seven police agencies, ranging in size from 15 sworn personnel to over 400. Nearly half of my career – 17 years – has been in leadership roles. My assignments have included patrol, gangs, vice, narcotics, SWAT (team member, assistant team leader, and team leader), homicide (four tours), patrol supervisor, field training coordinator, detective sergeant, patrol watch commander, Major Incident Review Team sergeant, Public Information Officer, and cold case detective. I am currently working as a Reserve Deputy Sheriff for the Laramie County Sheriff’s Office, and I am a Certified Wyoming Peace Officer."
The website says Wyatt's work as a homicide detective has been featured in over 30 true crime shows, including four episodes of Dateline.
The official filing period for candidates in Wyoming is May 14-29. Incumbent Albany County Sheriff Aaron Applehans recently announced that he is running for reelection.
