The University of Wyoming Board of Trustees has completed their evaluation of the university's 26th president, Laurie Nichols.

The evaluation was a stipulation of Nichols' three year contract with the university, and begun after Nichols had served 18 months in office. During the evaluation process, the board brought in professional evaluator Steve Portch and held an open meeting during which the campus community and the public were allowed to offer their opinions.

The board held a meeting last week to discuss the results of the evaluation. After the conclusion of the meeting on Friday, the university released a statement that "the board has now concluded the facilitated evaluation with a very constructive meeting with President Laurie Nichols."

"The board also found the evaluation a help to itself and, in conjunction with the president, will initiate a process to address the recommendations outlined in the evaluation." the university added.

Laramie Live reached out for comment from the Board of Trustees seeking additional information about the meeting. Board of Trustees Chairman John MacPherson said in an email that "personnel files are considered confidential under the Wyoming Public Records Act" and that "because it is a personnel matter, no further comment would be appropriate."
