Utah Woman Killed in I-80 Crash
An Eden, Utah woman is dead following a collision on Interstate 80 east of Wamsutter Thursday morning.
The Wyoming Highway Patrol says 91-year-old Mary Magna was riding in a pickup driven by 60-year-old Monica Fridberg, when Fridberg fell asleep and rear-ended a semi.
After the collision, the pickup went airborne and landed in the median.
Magna, who was wearing her seatbelt, was flown to Salt Lake Regional Medical Center where she died from her injuries.
Fridberg and an 8-year-old boy were also wearing their seat belts and were taken to Memorial Hospital of Carbon County in Rawlins where they were treated and released. The driver of the semi was not injured.
Fridberg was cited for failing to maintain a single lane of travel.
Driver fatigue is being investigated as the contributing factor in the crash.
