Debating a measure that would have repealed the state's death penalty, Senator Lynn Hutchings argued that without capital punishment, Jesus Christ could not have died for our sins.

Hutchings further says she has been the target of "racial slurs, character assassination and threats" since the allegations became public.

Democratic Party Chairman Joe Barbuto says Lynn Hutchings must resign from her Senate seat.

The mayor had testified in favor of House Bill 230 before a legislative committee considering the measure.

The complaint claims Sen. Hutchings compared homosexuality to bestiality and pedophilia.
