Foster Friess

Foster Friess, a 2018 Wyoming gubernatorial candidate and notable donor to the Republican party died Thursday at the age of 81.

Friess is the first person to publicly express interest in running for the Senate seat.

The funds will be distributed through an application process.

Mark Gordon won the Aug. 21 Republican primary with 38,952 votes, with Friess coming in second with 29,842 votes.

Friess and Gordon appeared to have made amends Thursday, embracing and chatting amiably in front of reporters.

Geringer told KGAB morning host Glenn Woods the Gordon campaign was trying to find out who was behind the calls, so far without success.

Friess finished second to Mark Gordon in Tuesday's primary.
