With the 4th of July holiday approaching, the Wyomng State Forestry Division is asking residents and visitors to help protect public safety and natural resources. State Forester Bill Crapser says to date, there have been no large wildland fires in the state. However with the recent hot, dry and windy conditions many areas of the state are drying out, and fire danger is on the increase. Crapser says several counties along with the BLM and US Forest Service have put fire restrictions in place. State Forestry will update fire restrictions daily. Crapser says fuel conditions across much of the state are heavy with high levels of dead and standing fuels. Coupled with winds and high temperatures this will create areas of extreme fire danger.
