An 18-year-old from Cheyenne is facing a felony charge after allegedly burglarizing another teen's vehicle.

Field Contact Leads to Wanted Cheyenne Man's Arrest

According to a booking sheet, Izaeyh John Dominguez was arrested at Cheyenne South High School at 1213 W. Allison Rd. at 8:10 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 16, after the school resource officer contacted him on a field contact and discovered he had an active warrant out of Laramie County Circuit Court.

The warrant was for burglary, a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison, up to a $10,000 fine, or both.

It's alleged that on Friday, Sept. 26, Dominguez unlawfully and without the authority of A.M. (year of birth 2008) entered or remained in a vehicle located at South High School with an intent to commit theft.

Dominguez was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Laramie County Detention Center on his warrant.

Initial Court Appearance

The following afternoon, Oct. 17, Dominguez was seen in Circuit Court in front of Judge Sean C. Chambers on the charge.

Chambers appointed Dominguez a public defender and his preliminary hearing was set for Friday, Oct. 24, at 9:45 a.m.

Chambers then asked for the state's bond recommendation.

"Mr. Dominguez has a limited criminal history, however, with the nature of this charge, it is of note that he did receive a deferred sentence for two years out of Colorado involving a weapons charge," the state said. "This gives the state major concern for his ability to comply with court orders since he is still on that two-year deferred sentence and he received this new charge, as well as concern for the safety of the community with the nature of the burglary charge and would recommend $3,000 cash."

Bond Set at $3K Cash

"I'm going to set your bond at $3,000 cash," Chambers told Dominguez. "If you're able to post that, I will set conditions, otherwise, we will see you next for your preliminary hearing on the 24th."

Please remember that all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
