Severe Storms, Golf Ball Size Hail Possible In SE Wyoming

The Cheyenne Office of the National Weather Service says severe thunderstorms with strong winds and up to golf ball size hail are possible in southeast Wyoming and the Nebraska Panhandle on Monday and Tuesday.

The agency posted this statement on its website on Monday:

''Here's what we're looking at today and tonight in terms of severe thunderstorms. A Slight Risk area has been identified along and east of a line from Douglas to Torrington to Sidney this afternoon. Storms look to form over the Laramie Range around noon time today. As they move off the Laramie Range, they're likely to move into more unstable air and become severe across the southeast Wyoming plains, for a large hail (golf balls or larger) and damaging downburst wind (60-70mph) threat. By the time they move into the Nebraska Panhandle by late afternoon, they look to be more bowing segments, which means more of a strong wind threat versus hail. Either way, severe thunderstorms are looking likely today. Keep an eye on the sky today. Have a way to receive any warnings that may be issued for your area today. Be safe out there today!''
