Police K-9 Recognized With ‘Heroic Dog Award’ For Child Rescue
People For The Ethical Treatment Of Animals [PETA] is recognizing a K-9 officer with the Sweetwater County Sheriff's Office with its ''Heroic Dog Award."
Deputy Jara led his handler, Deputy Sheriff Derek Morrell, to a locked car where a four-year-old-child was sleeping on June 28 in Rock Springs. The child had been reported missing by his mother earlier that evening. You can read more about the rescue of the missing boy here.
PETA is sending the Sheriff's Office a framed certificate recognizing Jara as a 'heroic dog" and Jara will receive a "doggie bag" of toys and vegan treats.
