Opponents of President Donald Trump and a PETA truck attempting to discourage people from eating pork were seen in Cheyenne events on Saturday.

PETA ''Hell On Wheels Truck'' Draws Little To No Apparent Response

PETA, or People for Ethical Treatment Of Animals, had vowed to give diners ''an earful" with it's ''Hell On Wheels" truck. The vehicle features depictions of pigs headed to slaughter, and PETA said it would feature a soundtrack of what it says are "actual recorded sounds of the animals’ panicked screams along with a subliminal message every 10 seconds suggesting that people go vegan."

PETA had said the vehicle would appear at  Sanford's Grub & Pub around noon on Saturday. Indeed, the vehicle did drive by the eatery multiple times between noon and 1 p.m., apparently circling the block. However, as of about an hour after it was scheduled to appear, it was hard to discern any response from anyone at all. The truck simply kept driving by and no one seemed to notice it was there. So far as "an earful," the truck did seem to be playing a recording of pigs squealing, but the volume was so low that it was almost inaudible above the usual traffic noises.

Trump Opponents Rally At Capitol Building

At about the same time, opponents of President Trump were holding a "'No Kings" rally in front of the Wyoming Capitol building, the latest in a series rallies against Trump in Cheyenne.

The turnout this time seemed much smaller than two recent events that drew crowds of several hundred people. A similar event a couple of weeks ago drew a crowd that some estimates put at between 500-600 people. By contrast, the turnout Saturday did not appear to be much over 150 people.

Whether the diminished Saturday turnout was due to chilly April weather, the fact that it was held on Easter weekend or perhaps protest fatigue--or maybe all of those factors--was impossible to say.

But what the crowd lacked in size, it made up for in zeal. Signs ranging from one on a canine that read "Dogs Against Doge" to numerous calls for Elon Musk to step down and accusations that Trump is trying to become a dictator were carried by protestors. A single counter protestor driving a pickup truck adorned with pro-Trump slogans could be seen at the edge of the protest. At one point he appeared to be holding animated, but civil conversations with some of the Trump opponents.

Wyoming National Guard Prepares for Wildfire Season

“When fire season begins, seeing our aircraft on the flight line means we’re ready to assist wherever needed,” said Lt. Col. Christopher Valine of the Cowboy Guard.

Airmen from the Wyoming Air National Guard teamed up with the California Air National Guard for MAFFS training in Arizona!

This crucial exercise ensures our crews stay sharp in aerial firefighting, ready to support the U.S. Forest Service when wildfires strike. From low-altitude drops to operating at max weight in tough terrain, this training pushes our aircrews to the limit.
