Online Poll: What Can Be Done To Reduce Mass Shootings?

UPDATE: Since this article was originally posted, on Monday, July 29, sadly, there have been two more mass shootings. One in El Paso, Texas, and the other in Dayton, Ohio.

Original article: As authorities continue to investigate a mass-shooting in Gilroy, California over the weekend that left three people dead and many others injured, people are once again asking if there is a way to reduce the number of such incidents in this country.

Some people advocate for improved access to mental health services and better efforts to identify troubled individuals as needed steps. Others say more stringent gun control laws are needed, saying other countries with tougher gun laws have fewer such incidents.

Gun-rights advocates point to the fact that most mass shootings happen in gun-free zones, and some say a better-armed public capable of defending itself is really the best deterrent. There are those who say spending more money on security measures and a beefed-up police presence at public events may at least help solve the problem. And many say the idea of ''see something, say something" needs more emphasis.
