With growing demands on classroom time, some are questioning whether mandatory physical education classes should be part of the curriculum in school.

Opponents of mandatory P.E. often favor allowing the classes as an elective but argue that academic subjects need to take priority. They say that more and more demands are being placed on schools these days, with only so many hours available in the school day.

Supporters cite growing problems with obesity and other health issues in American society that are related to a lack of physical activity. They also say that kids today spend way too much time online or playing video games, often leading to health problems.

So what do you think? Should kids still be required to take P.E. classes?

We'll publish the results of our poll in a few days.
