The Cheyenne Kiwanis Club Foundation has announced awards of almost $43,000 to local youth organizations, according to a news release.

In the words of the release “The foundation considered about 30 applications from organizations in this area.  Our final grants will help develop cultural, educational, recreational and healthy opportunities for youth in our community,” foundation President Phil Van Horn said.

According to the release the following organizations were awarded money Make a Wish of Wyoming, $8,000; Girls on the Run, $5,000; Montessori School of Cheyenne, $3,665; Community Action of Laramie County, $3,000; Raising Readers in Wyoming, $3,000; United Way of Laramie County, $3,000; Jason’s Friends Foundation, $3,000; After School for Kids (ASK), $3,000; Cheyenne Children’s Museum, $2,500; Laramie County Library Foundation, $2,500; Cheyenne Tennis Association, $2,250; Special Olympics of Wyoming, $2,000; Cheyenne Regional Medical Center Foundation, $1,076.08; Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cheyenne, $1,000.

In the last half-century, the foundation has disbursed approximately  $750,000 to other non-profit organizations that provide services to local youth. The foundation raises the money from private and corporate donations, its annual golf tournament and other fundraising events.
