Morning Star American Indian Village at Frontier Park Nearing Completion
The Morning Star American Indian Village at Frontier Park is nearing completion, according to Cheyenne Frontier Days officials.
That's according to a post on the Cheyenne Frontier Days Facebook page.
Village Should Open This Summer
According to the page:
"Opening this summer, this reimagined cultural space will stand near the Cheyenne Frontier Days Old West Museum at the historic Confluence of the Plains.
The Morning Star American Indian Village is not a museum. It is a vibrant cultural gathering place rooted in living tradition.
Guests will experience traditional regalia, dance, music and craftsmanship in a setting thoughtfully designed to reflect the cultural symbolism of the Plains tribes."
In 2024 when plans for the facility were unveiled, Townsquare Media of Cheyenne spoke with Rene Middleton, Executive Director of the Cheyenne Frontier Days Foundation about the village. She told us then "the goal is to have the new facility open in time for Frontier Days 2026, which will be the Year of the Native American at CFD. Middleton said the new facility is made possible in large part by a grant from the Hughes Foundation. She added that Frontier Days officials will raise additional money for the village's educational component."
She also said that although the new facility will still host Native American dancers during CFD and various vendors during CFD, it will also be a year-round facility. ''During the rest of the year, we hope to have educational self-guided things.'' She says her vision for the village is that fourth-grade students studying Native American history and culture "will be coming to Wyoming, to Cheyenne, to see what the Native American experience was like.''
Medicine Bow Wyoming Road Art
There’s a strange mind at work in Medicine Bow. Someone equal parts disturbed and delighted, scheming and laughing at the same time. And somehow, they want to pull you into the fun.
