Many Homeless Forced To Choose Shelter Over Work In Cold Weather
With the cold weather hanging around, some short-term job employers are having trouble finding anyone looking for a paycheck.
Places such as the Wyoming Coalition for the Homeless in Cheyenne, usually have a number people stop by looking for any kind of work, that a short-term employer can hire.
Jobs include moving furniture or even shoveling drive-ways.
Steve Eixenberger with the Coalition, says the reason is because many homeless people, are prioritizing, and finding shelter, ranks above finding work.
"I can have 26, last Friday, when it was 40 degrees, and four or five, when it's zero, like today. So most of them will stay in over at COMEA. They won't come over here and do things that they can do here during the day."
The WCH is also tries to provide the homeless with clothing and some job training skills.
