Man Facing Felony Drug Charges After Traffic Stop Near Cheyenne
A 28-year-old Jerseyville, Illinois man is facing felony drug charges after a traffic stop west of Cheyenne.
According to an affidavit, a trooper pulled over a car for speeding on Interstate 80 on Nov. 19 and noticed what appeared to be a bud of raw marijuana on the dash.
The driver, Damian Vinson, reportedly told the trooper that he and his passenger, Blake I. Thompson, had smoked "some" marijuana and that there was a small bag of marijuana in the glove box that belonged to both of them.
The car was searched and a backpack containing two vacuum sealed bags of suspected raw marijuana and two bags of suspected hash was found in the trunk.
After advising the men of their Miranda rights, Thompson claimed ownership of the backpack and the suspected drugs.
Thompson was arrested and charged with felony possession of marijuana and THC-hash. If convicted on both counts, he could face up to 10 years in prison.
Thompson's bond was set at $3,000 cash. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Nov. 28 in Laramie County Circuit Court.
