LCSD1: Saddle Ridge Students to Finish School Year at Eastridge
Saddle Ridge Elementary School students will finish out the school year at the Eastridge wing adjacent to Carey Junior High School after this weekend's heavy rains caused extensive water damage at the school.
Laramie County School District 1 sent out the following letter to parents Tuesday:
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Due to the amount of water damage to Saddle Ridge Elementary, students will finish out the school year at the Eastridge wing, 3323 Concord Ave., adjacent to Carey Junior High. Eastridge was remodeled several years ago and is equipped to serve elementary-age students. It is a stand-alone facility and its doors will be closed and locked to separate it from the junior high school. Carey students will already be in class when Saddle Ridge students arrive in the morning. All regular security measures will be in place.
Students will report to Saddle Ridge by 8:35 a.m., where teachers will take attendance. The District will be transporting teachers and students to Eastridge. Teachers will board the bus with their students and buses will depart from Saddle Ridge at 8:45 a.m. After the last bus has departed, Saddle Ridge parents will be responsible for transporting their student to Eastridge.
Parent access to Eastridge will be at the entrance on Concord Avenue and parents are welcome to drop students off at this entrance as well. Saddle Ridge’s temporary office will be accessible through this same entrance from Concord Avenue. (See attached map) Parents should not access Carey’s main entrance located on Pershing Boulevard or use the Carey Junior High parent drop off loop.
At the end of the school day, students will board the buses at 3:15 p.m., arriving back at Saddle Ridge at 3:30 p.m. and will follow their normal schedule for pick-up and drop off. Student supervision at Saddle Ridge will follow the current schedule before and after school.
Due to the school closure on Tuesday, May 28, Saddle Ridge students’ last day will be Friday, June 7, with early release at 12:15 p.m. Buses will run their normal routes and lunch will be provided.
Parents are invited to attend a meeting tonight, May 28, with Principal Don Brinkman at 6 p.m., in the Carey Junior High Auditorium.
Sincerely,
Laramie County School District 1 Administration
