School may be out for the summer, but concerns about safety and security are still at the forefront.

Every five years, Laramie County School District 1 takes a look at the actual costs of educating a student and recalibrates their funding model.

Superintendent John Lyttle says with all of the things that have gone on across the country, school security is on everybody's radar.

"We have eight resource officers in our school district, and most of the large school districts have them, and that's something that's not in the funding model," said Lyttle. "So part of the study is to look at should we have some funding set aside for that."

Lyttle says the district is also reviewing staff, utility and construction costs.
