LCCC Diesel Tech Scholarships Available
Students looking to study diesel technology at Laramie County Community College will find their educational path looking even better, thanks to a recent donation.
Wyoming Machinery and Caterpillar teamed up to provide $5,000 each for scholarships in that program. Thanks to the Wyoming legislature, this total was matched by state funds, meaning that the donation actually totals $20,000.
With a new flexible technology building scheduled to open on campus in 2016 and with job prospects growing in this field, the timing to help students couldn’t be better.
“Just think of the opportunities this provides to students and ultimately to potential employers in the area,” said Larry Van Why, LCCC diesel technology instructor.
Keith Cashman, director of product support at Wyoming Machinery, is thrilled by this win-win position.
“We’re looking for technicians. A lot of employees will soon be retiring and leaving the field, and this is a great way to help seed the system,” he said.
